ART

Like a child who plays to explain concepts that are beyond him, I created a character for myself, Mudd Ball. He is like a ball of mud that takes shape through contact with uncomfortable tragicomic situations in which I place him and from which he must escape. The pieces stand as stages in a narrative with neither beginning nor end, where I use shifts in scale like those found in comic books, in order to find an ultimately ordinary origin for these dramas and threats weighing on this character. Thus, shelves enclose him, television cabinets watch him, boots emerge from nuclear explosions and from storage boxes is born a sequence of massive crashes that one might find in a comedy or in a disaster film. And in this hostile and absurd world that echoes our own, laughter remains, perhaps the key element for getting out of it.
