This diploma project questions the place of living organisms in urban space through two main axes: the revalorization of wild plants, often labeled as “weeds,” and the return of open soil to promote biodiversity and better water management.
I propose a ground covering system made of bio-sourced material tiles, designed as supports for gentle vegetation.
Available in four variants, these tiles feature perforations that allow for pattern composition depending on their orientation.
The holes host various plant species, spontaneous or selected, encouraging the reintroduction of life into the heart of the city.
The project even envisions themed streets based on the chosen plants: aromatic, edible, colorful, or melliferous.
More than just a surface, it’s a new, adaptable, and poetic approach to urban ground design that restores nature’s place in spatial design.
