The City of Moments

The City of Moments extends research conducted around memory, belonging and contemporary urban experience. Emerging from the thesis An Inaccessible City, this research examines the ordinary spaces of the city : passageways, waiting areas, staircases, blind spots, bridges, park edges or vacant lots.

These places, often considered neutral or simply functional, nevertheless contain gestures, rhythms and latent relationships. Through a series of public objects situated between design and sculpture, the project seeks to make these discreet relationships perceptible.

 The proposed objects act as subtle disruptors. They do not seek to radically transform the urban space, but to create small interruptions in the automatisms of everyday life : a shared movement, an unstable balance, an echo, a glance, a pause. These micro-situations allow the user to become aware of their own presence, that of others, and the possibility of an instantaneous relationship with the city.
